Trisha Tavares, M.D.

Dr. Trisha Tavares is a dual board-certified physician specializing in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, with extensive clinical and research experience. She has contributed to pharmacological and pharmaceutical research at Weill Cornell Medical School and Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceuticals, and has worked across all phases of human trials.
Her published works address both lay and scientific audiences, focusing on topics such as renal and breast cancer, as well as various hematological conditions. Dr. Tavares earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and pursued oncology training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, alongside hematology training at Weill Cornell Medical Center. During her fellowship, she conducted laboratory research under the Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Following her training, Dr. Tavares practiced in New York and Arizona and participated in several global health initiatives. Her expertise in General Pediatrics has been utilized in missions throughout the United States, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, and Guatemala. As a United Nations volunteer, she provides remote pediatric support to international projects. She continues to practice through locum tenens and volunteer opportunities, maintaining her clinical skills.
Dr. Tavares is fluent in Spanish and French, and enjoys working with migrant and refugee populations. She is known for her high patient satisfaction and maintains lasting relationships with the families of her former patients. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tavares is a published writer who shares her insights on a range of medical and public health issues.
