Drugwatch has been recognized for its exceptional coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic with an award in Communications Concepts’ 33rd annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence competition.
COVID-19: A Consumer’s Guide to the Coronavirus, written by senior writer Michelle Llamas and edited by Sophia Clifton, received an Award of Excellence in the COVID-19 Media – Health and Medical category.
APEX also recognized additional COVID-19 content by Llamas and senior writer Terry Turner, whose reporting on the vaping industry’s marketing practices previously won Drugwatch a 2020 MarCom award.
“The APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. APEX Grand Awards honor the outstanding works in each main category, while APEX Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional entries in each of the individual sub-categories,” according to APEX Awards Executive Editor Ken Turtoro.
Winners were selected from approximately 1,200 entries submitted by professional communicators nationwide. Other recipients include the American Heart Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and Orlando Health.
In addition to winning APEX and MarCom awards, Drugwatch’s original reporting has also earned the site several Digital Health Awards.
